These docile roaches are most often dark brown in appearance. They hiss pleasantly when pet, air rushing out through their sides as it makes them vibrate like a purr for their owners. As a cockroach, they can be taken on adventures hidden in a pocket or elsewhere. If subjected to something that would kill them, there is a 50% chance that instead it survives with a single hit point and not a care in the world. These affectionate roaches have been specially bred by Exo to have different color morphs. Most commonly they appear in blues, purples, and dark greens. Other colors may be possible. Purring Cockroaches hiss pleasantly when pet, air rushing out through their sides as it makes them vibrate like a purr for their owners. As a cockroach, they can be taken on adventures hidden in a pocket or elsewhere. If subjected to something that would kill them, there is a 50% chance that instead it survives with a single hit point and not a care in the world. These enchanted roaches are the result of unexpected crossbreeds of Exo's fancy cockroaches. They have developed patterns on their carapace that have become aligned with a specific spell. They can be used as though a scroll of that spell. However, doing so removes the pattern from their body, and has a 50% of killing the roach as well. Purring Cockroaches hiss pleasantly when pet, air rushing out through their sides as it makes them vibrate like a purr for their owners. As a cockroach, they can be taken on adventures hidden in a pocket or elsewhere. If subjected to something that would kill them, there is a 50% chance that instead it survives with a single hit point and not a care in the world.
Each Vellumwing is a first level spell scroll. All 1st level spells are now available on Vellumwing Roaches.

These affectionate roaches have been derived from a line of rare cockroach eggs that were brought to Exo. As a cockroach, they can be taken on adventures hidden in a pocket or elsewhere. If subjected to something that would kill them, there is a 50% chance that instead it survives with a single hit point and not a care in the world. These Torchbearer variety of roaches are able to produce their own light. They always illuminate 5ft around them, but if gently pet on the carapace by someone they are friendly with it will cause their glow to grow as intense as a torch. They will shed bright light for 20ft and dim light for another 20ft beyond that for one hour. It can do this once per short rest.
Torchbearer roaches are immune to radiant damage. Additionally, when this roach is being used to lurk on a session, the illumination can be activated by the player controlling it at their discretion.
