Gargoyle

Hideous creatures from the Burning Hells, gargoyles spend much of their time in a dormant state that resembles that of a statue, springing to life when they detect living flesh to rend with their teeth and claws. Their hides aren't just camouflage, however, actually possessing the natural toughness of stone - a fact that makes them highly resistant to weapons of any variety, as well as grounding them against all but the most intense electric attacks.
At some point after these creatures entered into the folklore of Sanctuary, people began to fear any suspicious or dangerous looking statues, leading to some groups constructing monstrous replicas of these hellish beasts in cemeteries or tombs in order to scare away would-be grave robbers or other trespassers. Since true gargoyles are all but impossible to tell apart from their mundane representations, some twisted mages even began summoning these demons and binding them among such statues, leaving them there as malevolent guardians, ready to devour anyone passing near the area, and lending even more credence to the popular fear the statues held.

False Appearance - While gargoyles remain motionless, they are indistinguishable from an inanimate statue. Only items or abilities able to detect fiends can see through this disguise.
