Elm Seward
"Well Camilla, good question. You can't bend the rules of science like you can art that's for sure. But art has more structure then you think and those rules have a lot to do with science. How your brain understands color and how it tires of hearing the same word over and over. Both of those things are science, but they tie in to art. In a good way."Elm is a father of five and has a close knit family despite geographical distance in contrast to his wife's relatives. He is a technician with a thorough understanding of how magic matrices integrate with electronics and he uses this effectively in his line of work. Elm's job is to repair and tune weather and navigation sensors that are run by magi-tech. Most of these are installed on boats but there is a stationary weather sensor at the local news station as well as the local coast guard use to predict Mana storms that can spring up unexpectedly. He makes a stable income off of his job that until recently has left his wife Vervain the option to stop working if she'd like. Their decision to move their youngest daughters to the nearby and rather expensive boarding school has changed this. Now with the additional financial strain this is no longer a viable option. Even though Vervain had no interest in stopping her work Elm cannot help but feel as if it were a personal failure that he can no longer offer his wife the option of an early retirement. The things Elm is most known for other then his job is his love of gardening. He can be caught at the local crafts fair and farmers market talking about plants whether they are flowers, vegetables, trees, or the odd cactus. Its a hobby and delight that he shares with his wife and there has been many a cool misty morning spent pulling weeds before drinking their morning coffee together. But there is one pastime that is known to only his family and closest friends and that is telling tales. Some of Elm's fondest memories, and some of the fondest he has gifted his loved ones was by the fire spinning yarns new and old. There has been many a night with the wind howling outside where Elm has looked at his children with a poorly hidden smile and said,
"......"
"Hmm. I can see why you think that. But look at it this way. Just because lightning is only electrostatic charge being released doesn't make it any less beautiful. And just because my work always has a yes or no answer doesn't make it ugly"
"Well maybe just one more."Until the sun peaked in through the curtains his wife pinching the bridge of her nose the whole way.
