Hel (/hiːl/)
The great cause of light, heat, life. We worship many gods, across many races, for many things, but we all owe a great measure of reverence to the star that enables our existances.
Observations from Adruia
"Saying that Hel 'belongs' to anyone or anything is ridiculous. She shines on us all equally, from the coin-less to the self-centered in the state building. I'll tell you another thing, if the state could figure how to tax access to Hel they would. Pack of thieving rats those noble statesmen."
~Arduian Barkeep from the captial
"The star Hel is an important resource for the citizens of Adruia. Her light is a valuable public asset and needs be protected, but I must confess that I have no idea how we should tax usage to protect the state's ability to continue to provide Hel's light and heat to the population at large."
~Career Arduian Statesman
Observations from Asmium
"It rises in the eastern sky, ushering in wakefulness. It hangs overhead as we labor, working in the faith that we see its cycle many more times, and then it sinks beneath the western horizon. When it rests from its duties of illumination and warmth we too rest. Then it rises once more, rousing us into a familiar cycle. Whatever more can be said of Hel is for the scholars. We common folk need only the faith that when it disappears in the west it will rise in the east. That is enough for us to live out our whole lives."
~Asmiumian Farmer
"The star Hel is, of course, the one we both orbit and the one we are closest too in the vast expanse of the material plane. While many phenomena of our world are ascribed to planar origins, it should be noted a great many more are the direct cause of Hel. The way in which Hel manipulates the fundamental aspects of the material plane creates light, heat, and stability for Sanial. Hel holds our planet a stable distance from itself - preventing us from careening off into the expanse, warms us - that life might not die to the extreme cold of the expanse, and illuminates us - protecting us from the darkness of the expanse and the terrors within. That is to say all life begins with the gifts of Hel."
~Asmiumian Nobleman and Royal Agriculturalist

Hel is the star at the center of the Helar System, and all names and naming conventions are of the astronomers of Sanial who have collected and recorded great deals of information on the Helar System. Hel is a star similar to the Sun with few differences. Most notably Hel is larger, lighter, hotter, and younger than the Sun. This has the primary effect of increasing the size of the habitable zone, or the zone in which Hel could support life on a planet with the correct planetary conditions, and having that habitable zone be further out, meaning a greater orbital period for any potentially inhabited planets. Secondary effects are that Hel appears as a lighter, brighter yellow than the Sun in Sanial's sky, and that it will exit it's main phase, and end all life on Sanial, as a star sooner than the Sun (before it is ≈6.5 billions years old vs the sun's ≈10 billion years).

How that crazy old wizard managed to determine so many things about Hel is well and truly beyond me. Whatever those strange contraption are that he builds with my gold, I care not - so long as he produces knowledge for me that no one else yet has it is gold well invested.

Author's Notes
I have been intermittenly building people, places, things, ect. since I was in middle school. However, this is my first full scale attempt at a star system. Any constructive comments (including opinion's like, "I'd have done it this way..." will be welcomed and duefully considered. Please refrain from comments that are meant only to be critical.
