Adventurer
Much of Sanzeia considers the term "adventurer" to be a loose and often self applied title for those itinerant individuals with skills of arms and magic, that perform various tasks for various rewards. Typically these persons, while exceptionally powerful, are not considered part of any official power structure, and while the most powerful adventurers might enjoy the company of and preform tasks for a king or queen, they are not beholden to them.
The Republic of Himse treats such individuals differently, by officially recognizing the profession and establishing a series of guilds and secondary professions for the creation and support of such hopefuls. Adventurers in Himse enjoy celebrity status commensurate with their accomplishments, and while officially a private/non-governmental profession, often find themselves, through virtue of the quests they undertake, supporting the Himsean government. Himse is particularly apt to use adventurers rather than more formal channels when it comes into conflict with other states, allowing the elven republic to maintain a comparatively smaller military while at the same time achieving effects and maintaining denyablity.
Requirements
Entry requirements vary highly between adventuring guilds, with the most prestigious being via invitation or recommendation only. It is common (though not required) practice to have several noteworthy accomplishments to ones name when seeking guild membership.
Benefits
In Himse, while technically anyone can call themselves an adventurer, most customers in need submit their needs to a guild which in turns handles the supplying of capable adventurers. Without membership with one of the established guilds, would be adventurers would be reduced to asking everyone they meet for work. In exchange, guilds offer at the bare minimum legitimacy and access to those goods and services adventurers most often require.
