Himse, Republic of
The elven republic of Himse occupies much of the Western half of Carentress, its warriors are among the finest horsemen in the world. The republic follows the teachings of Himse and venerates the sun god, Calowean. They are staunch enemies of the Yvalian Empire. These two elven states, as the largest powers in Sanzeia, rarely engage in all out war and Hisme often prefers to use adventurers as part of its political machinations against its rivals.

Unique and integral to the social system of the Republic is the patronage system. A noble of Hisme is judged not only by his own personal wealth and social standing, but by those he can afford to support - particularly adventurers. Noble houses will actively seek out and supply heroic parties and their reputation can be created or broken by the success of these groups.

Public Agenda
The republic seeks to maintain its own borders, promote trade, and undermine the Empire wherever it can.
Domestically, Himse values its allies and the power of trade. They build massive cities of gold and marble, and high towers basking in the sun.
History
Founded from a rough collection of elven city states in the age of myth, the republic did not really become a single unified state until rough 1500 BT when the states began becoming unified under their common faith. The cities would eventually, though both military prowess and cultural might, develop into states of their own which united under the Himsean banner, until the elven nation claimed virtually all of western Carentress.

Principally made up of Sun Elves, though all races can be found represented within the republic.
Territories
The single largest state on the continent of Carentress , Hisme claims all the territory from the Golden Sea to the mountains of Khiz. Much of its territory consists of the open grasslands and deserts that fill the center of the continent of which Hisme's control is nominal at best.
Technological Level
Without a doubt Himse is seen to be the cultural and magical nation par excellence on the continent of Carentress, rivaled perhaps only by the mystery shrouded ways of the Empire. Magic is commonplace in a way that most of the younger kingdoms view with awe, and elven mages, owing to their long lives, are able to reach states of magical perfection that the shorter lived races can only dream of.
Religion
The teachings of the Prophet Himse espouse love and beauty and shun the darkness in all things. The Sun priests occupy a powerful political roll in the republic and are consulted concerning most all major decisions.
