Gunargite Dwarf
Long ago, the dwarves of Sanzeia spilt along cultural lines, physically there is little to tell a Gunargite dwarf from a Khizar, but culturally they remain distinct. Gunargite men are wanderers, merchants, and explorers, while the women are more traditionally found in the homelands of the Gunargite Commonwealth. On average Gunargite dwarves are shorter, but more widely traveled than their mountain cousins.
Naming Traditions
Family names
Gunargite dwarves all belong to a clan, which for most dwarves stretches all the way back into the Age of Myth. They are intensely proud of these names and the lives of their ancestors. For a gunargite dwarf to abandon or change their clan name is something done only in response to a great shame. The surname "Coldhearth" is a specifically reserved moniker for these social pariahs.
Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Gunargite dwarves are renowned merchants and spend much of their long lives traveling and gathering wealth. While they have built impressive holds into the land of the Gunarg Spur, it is said that a gunargite dwarf is unable to spend more than a year continuously in one place before feeling the need to travel and explore.
Common Etiquette rules
Gunarg merchants expect a customer to attempt to haggle, and find it close to an insult for a customer to buy something at face value. They may act insulted by a low offer, but in all but all but the most egregious of cases consider it part of the shopping experience.
Common Dress code
Gunargite dwarves, particularly females, cover their bodies in multiple overlapping layers of cloth and leather. Typically leaving only faces and hands exposed.
Art & Architecture
Deprived of typical dwarven mountainous holds, Gunargite architecture instead attempts to recreate the majesty of the mountains in castle like holdings. These dwarves are considered the finest stonesmiths and engineers in the land, and their services are highly sought after by the nobility.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
Dwarven traditions particularly those linked to Nudanere and Dofan, espouse very set gender roles that the gunargite clans follow. Both focus on roles inside the home, with the male of the family being the lead. Gunargite men are also prone to leaving the house for extended periods of time, meaning the much of the day to day governance of the commonwealth is done by women.
