High Perch

Several days south of Ardrest through the densest parts and most primeval parts of the Trollsbark Woods, lies a secluded natural cul-de-sac, formed by cliff faces and a flowing stream. This stream feeds a singular, gigantic tree hundreds of yards high with branches at least that wide. This is High Perch, home to one of Sanzeia's only known friendly Harpy clans. Still somewhat uncivilized, under the rule of their new queen, Reenya, the harpies have (largely) stopped abducting mortal males and opened trade.

Demographics

Prior to 1491, the only inhabitants of High Perch were harpies. In the third month (Ches) of that year, the new queen, in honor of the allies who had helped her put her mother to rest and reclaim her throne, agreed to strive for a more peaceful existence with the locals.

Government

Possessing a fierce and at times brutal warrior culture, High Perch was traditionally ruled by the largest and strongest harpy.  Reenya took the lead, instead leading with the respect of her clan, particularly the warriors that were cursed to loyalty by the hags and where shown mercy by Reenya and the Frostyear Guardians.

Industry & Trade

The harpies of High Perch are skilled hunters, and while their crafts are not particularly in demand, they are eager to trade what they can for weapons, goods, and knowledge from Ardrest.

History

Since the harpies came to roost, High Perch has been ruled by the strongest harpy queen. Unfortunately for the local harpies, their queen, Aureai, fell under the sway of Bergatha, the Hag. In 1491, having fully corrupted and twisted the tribe, the hag, controlling the body of the queen, intended to use High Perch to create a third hag daughter for herself, but she was confronted by Reenya and the Guardians. Bergatha was thwarted and the queen laid to rest, Reenya, though badly wounded, was left to restore what was left of her tribe.

Geography

Deep within the woods, and surrounded by cliffs on three sides, High Perch is largely unapproachable except by the air, which makes it the perfect home for its harpy inhabitants.
