House Bravejay

"Sweet like a canary, brave like a Jay.   The Knights in the night make the imps go away.   No burning here, imp, I'll tell you true.   You better run if you see Knights in Blue."     -Birdfolk nursery rhyme
House Bravejay is one of the noble houses of the Winged Woods. They are of the Court of Corvids and are one of the Houses closest to the crown. Their words are "Through Courage We Rise" and their crest is a crossed white sword and blue feather.

Traits

House Bravejay has been known to produce very skilled fighters. It's said that the Bravejays are the House of the Winged Woods that would be most revered in the Empire, for the members of the noble house have been known to leap headfirst into battle, earning their namesake. Other than bravery, the House is known for their loyalty.   Bravejays resemble bluejays and are of average height. They commonly wear blue or white, and their guards and knights wear blue cloaks.

History

The Pecking Wars

House Bravejay is one of the older houses of the Winged Woods, having existed since well before the start of the Pecking Wars. They fought in the Pecking Wars and were one of the first Houses to establish a holdfast and keep it, having erected a small castle in the Crestlands named Castle Cyan. They would earn the loyalty of, and eventually absorb the other bluejay houses of House Cyansoar and House Yaw.

The First Perching

When Ethokar the Unlocker emerged from Saoirse's Scar, House Bravejay supported the newly crowned King Godsflight, and swore loyalty to the crown. This loyatly would last until present day, and there are few who can deny the loyalty of House Bravejay to their leige lords.

Ser Whipowhil Bravejay the I

When the call came for champions to defeat and banish Ethokar, House Bravejay answered. Their best knight and oldest son, Ser Whipowhil "The Warrior" Bravejay, won the tourney that the crown held to decide who should have the honor of representing the Winged Woods in the quest to defeat Ethokar. Ser Whipowhil would accompany Jymorn Raksana of Silversheim, and together with the rest of Jymorn's company defeat Ethokar. Ser Whipowhil perished in this quest, and the next heir would be his younger brother Talaree Bravejay.
