The Empire of Avarend (also known as
The Empire), is an imperial autocracy ruled by an emperor styled "Emperor of Men, Descended of Sunfire, Shield of the Realm". This Emperor sits on The Imperial Throne, sometimes called Oriana's Throne, after the supposed first daughter of the God Londhor. The Imperial Throne sits in the capital city of Romagus.
Geographical Features
The Empire of Avarend is a place of moderate temperature, able to support the growing of lush grape and olive crops. A vast majority of central Avarend is rolling, fertile hills. The two coast are steep and rocky.
Three forest are within Avarends borders. The Lonely Wood to the north, on the edge of The Griffon Peaks, is a small dense pine forest crawling up the mountains. These woods have been central in much early human and birdfolk mythology. The Imperial Forest is south of Romagus, along the coast of the Burning Sword Sea. This forest is considered holy ground and is closely regulated and patrolled by the Legion. The Avarendi Forest is the larges of the three, north of the Sapblood Sea. The small logging settlements in this forest keep the imperial war machine afloat.
The vast Star Dunes are under control of the Empire, even before the Dusting the humans lay claim to the desert. The fortress city of Meridium ensures that claim is upheld.
