Krenshaw
Not the man, the city. Krenshaw is a small fortress-town deep in the of the northern wilds. founded by the Elves to defend against the dragons of the Tempestua mountains, the town has grown around the base of the old fortress, and full of the farmers who feed the fortress, as well as the families of guardsmen or their retired counterparts. Material is scare in the far north, as shipping to and from the civilized world is infrequent at best. As of 615, on boat visits Krenshaw's forgotten port every year, to deliver much-needed medicine that only grows in the warmer regions of the world.
In the early days of the fortress, people came to and from eagerly, and there was talk of colonizing the northern mountains. Dwarven mining expeditions visited frequently, Hobbit farmers would arrive for hire, and men worked with the Elves to protect the grand fortress above it all. But hard times have fallen upon Krenshaw. The elves had not seen a threat in over 200 years, and were the humans see progress in the mountains, the fortress-keepers saw only stone. When Saramoth's power was broken, and Westerel claimed sovereignty over the human elements in the northern outpost, the elves saw no reason to assist them further, and withdrew their aid. The great elven-built walls now begin to decay, the old halls are reclaimed by the evil wild.
When the elves left, so did the presence that held back the mountain's evil. Dragons are not the only monsters in the Tempestua, and the wyverns, frost trolls, wolves, and monsters of the night have harrowed the town since. Now they cling to the edge of survival, hoping for a hope, praying for salvation. There is no escape for those who have grown up in the wild, and death appears inevitable. The inhabitants of the town fight against the merciless forces of darkness that lie in the mountains, and curse the powers that have abandoned them to a bleak death.
Demographics
70% Human, 24% Elven, other.
Government
Krenshaw is ruled by a military detachment from Westerel. The General Micheal McRogers is in command (as of 598).
Assets
The large stone fortress 'the old fortess' lies on a hilltop above the town. Though there is not enough manpower in the town to consistently maintain the fortress, when threats arise it is the most defensible area in the town. Krenshaw itself is surrounded by a large stone wall, approximately 15 ft. tall with room to walk on top. This wall has proved ineffective against many of the greater threats in the mountains.
History
The old fortress was founded in 400, and the town grew around it afterwards. In 511, Westerel took a military lead in fortress operation, and the Elves severed ties and official shipping to and from the continent.
Geography
Krenshaw lies in the far north across the sea from hobbiton and east of the Elven jungles. I takes about 4-7 days to reach the city from the nearest human settlement.
