Refitting of the Heavy Frigate Northern Knot

The refit of the Heavy Frigate Northern Knot was started at the demand of the Matron of Sailors and Patron of Woodworkers.

Upon her completion she was extend by fifteen feet in the bow to sharpen her bow angle. Outfitted with 2 thirty-two pound swivel mortars on her fore deck, 40 twenty-four pound breach loading long guns in her upper gun-deck and lower gun-decks, 6 thirty-two pound carronades, and 10 eighteen pound rifled long guns. Two 18 pound chase guns with the two swivel mortars on the fore deck, Fully outfitted a total of 58 guns, cut for a total 62 guns. With the modifications to her bow, and stern she was able to push 16 knots in moderate chop.
