Bahlnur Bristlebranch, young dwarf ranger
Bahlnur is a young man born into the poor but proud Bristlebranch Clan.
He balances a sense of duty to his clan against the fact that he finds Meckelorn dwarf society a little bit stifling. As a dwarf ranger, he spends long portions of time in the field returning to his home periodically to maintain family and national ties.

Bahlnur typically fights with a battle axe in one hand and shield or with his heavy crossbow.
Battle Axe, difficulty 7 to attack with and difficulty 8 to parry with (which is why he relies on his shield for parrying), 9 dice base damage.
Dagger, difficulty 6 to attack with, difficulty 7 to parry with. 5 dice base damage, also throwable.
Hand Axe, difficulty 7 to attack and parry with, 6 dice base damage, also throwable.
Bahlnut's shields provides a +1 difficulty penalty on all enemies attacking him unless they are behind him or flanking him. Bahlnut may actively parry with his shield at difficulty 5.
Heavy Crossbow, difficulty 6 to shoot with. Effective range of 100 yards, maximum range of 200 yards. 6 dice of base damage. It takes a full round action to reload or two partial action if he wants to dodge and move while reloading.
He typically travels with twenty crossbow bolts.
He normally wears medium armor, (five dice soak), +2 fatigue check difficulty.

Bahlnur is a gentle soul that likes to socialize and relax more than a typical Meckelorn dwarf but this is tempered by a understanding that the world he lives in his harsh and that in order to enjoy creature comforts, he must work hard to earn these respites. He finds the Borderlander humans have a combination of informality and toughness that he respects and likes to visit various Border Baronies. He picked up the basics of playing the panpipes (a musical instrument that is not very dwarvish) from a human friend.
