Governance of the Crystal Fields Barony

The Crystal Fields is a combination between a Constitutional Monarchy and a theocracy.
The Baroness is the head of state and appoints all the government positions but her appointments and decisions are subject to the oversight of the Cult of the Compact whose priestesses make up a plurality of the Baronesses appointed agents.
Citizens of the Crystal Fields do not live under strict rules though business is stopped for  a half hour every day for daily prayers announced by loud bells.
The Crystal fields are heavily guarded and tightly policed.  Generations of people have established that slow steady harvesting of the crystals is the best way to maximize long term yield.  If a stalk of crystal is every harvested in it's entirety, it takes roughly a century for it to regrow.
While the Baroness and her enforcerers generally rule with a light hand, crystal poachers face an automatic death penalty if caught.
