Mhasr Alvar
One of the three remaining Alvar types. Mhasr Alvar originate like all Alvar from the crash landing of an alien ship, but they adapted to the frozen north. Most interestingly they advanced and evolved and developed the ability to shape shift into thick furred forms.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Stocky. Solidly built. Short tails. Thick hair, small curved ears. Mhasr Alvar have snouts as opposed to the more human face of their kin.
Skin is often a mottled pale blue, grey, or white.
Genetics and Reproduction
As with all Alvar, Mhasr Alvar reproduce sexually, with a gestation period of five months. During this time the carrier of the child feels an instinctual drive to hunt for stores of meat and blood. Three months into the pregnancy, the child bearer retreats into a secluded den.
In older days, the Mhasr Alvar hibernated during this time and only woke up for birth, but in modern days this happens only rarely.
Ecology and Habitats
Mhasr Alvar evolved in the far northern wastes, with their species really hitting its stride in the Chodaa mountains. As a result, Mhasr Alvar are much more suited to the cold and experience heat exhaustion at lower temperatures than most other species.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous, but more interestingly than that, Mhasr Alvar are capable of subsisting off of blood alone for up to eight days if they are able to ingest enough of it. As such, Mhasr food traditionally includes the blood of whatever is being eaten.
Approximately 30 percent of Mhasr Alvar have an allergy to pasteurized dairy.
Behaviour
Mhasr Alvar still possess an instinctual memory and an intense dislike of open spaces. The fear of plains and other flat, bare areas is present in about eighty percent of the species according to reports and studies done.
Additionally, about sixty percent of the species still possesses a fear of fire. If confronted with bright flame, the fight flight fawn freeze response activates. Due to their highly adapted natures, Mhasr Alvar experience more intense burns more easily than their kin.

Conservation Status
Fairly common in Limneas, as most of their historic territory is contained within the subcontinent.
