Boz Cirtan / Grey Dwarves

The Grey Dwarves people lives underground. They descend from the same ancestor of their more civilized surface Dwarf cousins. They descend from the groups that choose to remain hidden underground from the attack of the Phan conqueror. They share the same robust build of their cousin (1.50 cm and 100 Kg of weight) but they are more muscular and bulky.

They are more barbaric and warlike, with a very strong Theocratic society, more adapted to their secluded enclaves. In the Grey Dwarf society there is no difference between male and female, they must be capable of fend for themselves. To survive in this essential society is very difficult; no food can be wasted in unfit individual, crippled and unproductive people. Anyone who survives to adulthood is a warrior and a productive member of the clan.

... dati governo ...

Living in the highest mountain range, in sub-zero environments, the lived and build their city underground, growing food in caverns and subterranean lakes. For this reason Hunters and Gatherers are the most important figures in the Clan, those who can provide the food for the clan to survive are held in high importance. Merchant, miners and artisans, who can produce items to be sold for food, are held in high importance too. They have no interest in money or gem and precious metals, they barter for what they want: food and other survival items.

For the same reasons they do not take slaves, no food can be wasted for them. Differently from other races that cultivated terrains outside, Grey Dwarves abhor the idea of going outside their caves if not for battle, if some merchants are bold enough to trade with them, they need to enter the deep caves an reach the trade posts of the dwarves.

Their hidden cities are secure underground and rarely do they allow merchant inside, to trade their huge stock of rare and precious metals. The same is said for their products or for their requests; they produce very high quality metal objects, but of strictly utilitarian use; Weapons, armor, shields, hammers, but no rings, necklaces and other fancy jewelry.

Mithril is a rare silvery mineral that is found only in the deepest of the mines. Only the Gray Dwarf craftsmen know the secret to making this strange mineral very sharp and very durable. They trade for food, wood and utilitarian items. Firearms are in high request; gunpowder is in great request and big quantity of it is often bought from merchants and Gnomes.

They have grown a strong sense of honor that binds any and all of their actions. The Grey Dwarves have only one word, and they keep it to the extreme consequences. The same they expect from others, there is no worst enemy than a Grey Dwarf who has been deceived. They will follow the traitor anywhere to avenge their honor.

The Boz Cirtan have a deep respect for the Cult of Brumbarr and for their priest and clergy. The priest of Brumbarr are the medium to the divinity to control the lava flow in the caverns (used for coltivation and energy). Even in the smallest settlement they are the base of all the community. The people gather daily in the temples to appease the divinity and spare them from vulcanic eruptions and earthquakes that could destroy the settlement in an instant.
