Shub-Niggurath (The All-Mother Goddess) is an Outer God belonging to a group of immensely powerful, yet inscrutable beings called the Elder Mythos, or the The Old Gods. Shub-Niggurath is the fertility deity of that pantheon. Her unholy symbol consists of three goat heads attached at the neck, with horns pointed outward to form a circular shape.

Shub-Niggurath is one of the all-powerful Ultimate Gods residing in the formless chaos outside of all time and space. Her role is one of the most significant of her kin, the "All-Mother" of existence, birthing countless abominations. With her consort she has conceived numerous progeny, and their kindred extends far across totality. Among these countless beings is Nug and Yeb, who have in turn spawned Great Cthulhu and Tsathoggua, all sired from her great lineage.

The details surrounding her existence are vague, with only few mentions of her worship beyond the confines of humanity, as well as various shrines and hymns devoted to her and her "thousand young". Her role as the "All-Mother" has been equated to other goddesses in mythology such as Astarte, Astaroth, Lilith, and Hecate, under the name "The Magna Mater".
