Keycard

The access keycard is one of the most important and significant items in any W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. employee's toolbox. Every position and rank, from janitor to Elite Espionage agent must possess one of these to gain access to their workplace.   Each keycard is as individual as the operative who holds it. The patters engraved upon the card are unique like a fingerprint. The agent's number is embedded into the device and, with it, are all the permissions given to that person.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The access pass is very thin and compact. Slightly larger than your average credit card. It is not too heavy and somehow contains electric components that can be remotely switched on and off by the agency. The card itself has very fine lines almost in a maze-like pattern that is unique to each cardholder, similar to a fingerprint. When the card is used at an access point, the light will illuminate. Different color lights indicate the nature of the interaction. Typically, the light will reflect the color designated to represent the cardholder's given agent rank.

History

In the past, keycards did not exist in the sense they do today. Unfortunately, this made it more challenging to keep unwanted individuals out of certain spots, neither was the agency able to track who entered and exited a location without being observed.

Rarity

Keycards are incredibly common in the W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. world. Every agent has one in some form or another. Without a keycard, the agent would not be able to access secret locations that are quartered off from public use.

Materials

It is suspected that the card is composed of a thin metal encased in a plastic coating. Not many agents have actually attempted to open the card and find out for themselves, as damaging keycards is frowned upon.

Significance

Keycards are an essential part of every W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. agent's inventory. It is extremely difficult to undergo the keycard replacement process. For this reason, agents try their best to keep up with their access card at all times. Employees have also been informed of the reprecussions of bad actors receiving access to private facilities. Any access granted to secret areas or projects is ultimately considered the original cardholder's fault. The company is liable to enact serious consequences upon any neglegent employee who allows their keycard to fall into the wrong hands. Most Higher-Ups will determine that access was intentionally given and accuse said agent of treason.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   Keycards. Every W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. agent has one. These special cards are programmed to provide access to several points all over the world in designated company facilities. The Higher-Ups are able to give and revoke access at the push of a button. This also means that they can track you, wherever you're going and whatever you're doing. Some people believe that the keycards track more than just access pass points, but rather the card itself is a tracker. This has not been confirmed by the organization, but it hasn't been denied, either. Take with that what you will.

This organisation grows more and more suspicious with every article I browse through ! I love how some facts are presented as supposition rather than real fact, it gives a room for question and help elevate the sense of a deeper world.
