COMMS

W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. invented a technology that allows agents to communicate with each other in a hidden frequency that is not easily detected, hijacked, or intercepted by anyone outside of the organization.   As one operative speaks on one end, their voice is scrambled and encrypted so that any potential eavesdroppers will not be able to discern what is being said. The receiving operative's communicator then takes the jumbled message and decodes it so that it is heard plainly just as the previous operative had uttered it.
W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. scientists and technology experts worked hard to discover a solution to the common eavesdropping problem. Once this frequency was created, they continued to improve upon the technology. It is still being tweaked to this day.   Only those within the W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P. organization have access to the technology. Any others who somehow come into possession of a frequency comm could try to dissect it and discover its secrets. This is why most comms are equipped with a self-destruct feature to internally destroy the scrambler and descrambler device within it before anyone can have time to investigate its mechanics further.   The exact particulars that allow the comms to exist in the undetectable frequency are unknown to most, even the agents who frequently utilize the devices. The inner workings are only revealed to a select few, most of which are the employees who are continuously working on the project.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   Ahh. The old comms. These things are a mystery to me. But you should always keep them charged, and make sure not to accidentally activate the self-destruct sequence. Once it's gone, it's gone. And if you're stranded out somewhere or in need of backup, it'll be too bad. There's also a tracker in the comms, but once that self-destruct feature initiates, the tracker's gone, too.

I like that you included a frequency pic :) Reminds me of my honey's synthesizers.

I didn't enter this one 'cause I'm judging. This is why I was glad to see the extra prompts. It would feel weird to enter my own. Take care!
