Emmett McGrath

Emmett is the husband of Mildred McGrath, they have not been married long and although their union is civil, they both keep deep secrets from each other. Introduced by Mildred's brother Matthew, they both have quiet temperaments which makes them well suited to each other even if the trust is lacking. Emmett does not seek to interfere in his wife's affairs, and she does not seek to interfere in his. 
Emmett has a habit of engaging in physical labor that would typically be hired out. Although some find it distasteful, he prefers it to the more cerebral pursuits that his station requires. Some find him a bit eccentric, but he generally doesn't notice or much care for the opinions of others. He does, however, make an exception for the opinion of his wife.
He is a respectful man, who cares for her feelings and does his best not to wilfully upset her. He prioritizes the things she needs to be done around the house and sees to all her financial wants. He generally is a good provider and although they are not as wealthy as some, that is gradually beginning to change. They are a primer couple although they are new to town and have managed to forge strong connections in the new city. 
Although he is a newcomer, Emmett is well-liked at his club and a regular at The Swain Club. He has made many friends there and is always welcomed.
