The Free Iron Legion

The Free Iron Legion is a mobile army comprised mostly of Warforged, who seek to liberate their brethren from indentured servitude and reignite their sentience. Formed in response to the mistreatment and enslavement of Warforged, the Legion has made it its mission to rescue and protect their kind, while promoting their rights and freedoms in a world that often sees them as mere tools or weapons.

Structure

At the helm of the Free Iron Legion is the Iron Council, composed of highly respected and experienced Warforged leaders who set the overall strategic direction of the organization and make major decisions. Each council member oversees a specific aspect of the Legion's operations, such as reconnaissance, combat, or diplomacy. Beneath the Iron Council are regional commanders who coordinate the Legion's activities in their respective areas. They lead detachments responsible for liberating Warforged and ensuring their safety. Regional commanders report directly to the Iron Council and work closely with their peers to share information and resources.   Within each detachment, there are various squads, each led by a squad leader. Squads carry out the missions assigned by their regional commander, specializing in different fields such as infiltration, combat, or negotiation.

Culture

The Free Iron Legion's culture is one of unity, purpose, and compassion. They value the bonds between fellow Warforged and their allies, standing together against the injustices they face. The Legion emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, and mutual support in achieving their goals. Members of the Legion are expected to be disciplined and focused on their mission, while also being empathetic and understanding of the plight of their rescued comrades. They are encouraged to be resourceful, adaptable, and to think independently when necessary.

Public Agenda

The Free Iron Legion's public agenda is to raise awareness of the plight of enslaved Warforged, campaign for their rights and freedoms, and dismantle the institutions that exploit them. They aim to create a world where Warforged are recognized as sentient beings with rights, rather than as mere tools or weapons.

Assets

The Free Iron Legion has access to a range of assets, which include:
  • Mobile Headquarters: The Legion operates from a well-concealed, mobile base that can be relocated as needed to avoid detection.
  • Skilled Operatives: The Legion is composed of Warforged and allies who possess a wide array of skills and talents, from combat prowess to diplomatic expertise.
  • Intelligence Network: The Legion maintains a network of spies and informants who gather information on Warforged in need of rescue and the movements of their enemies.
  • Resourceful Allies: The Legion has forged alliances with sympathetic individuals and organizations, who provide assistance in the form of safe houses, supplies, and information.

History

The Free Iron Legion was born from the collective frustration and anger of Warforged who had escaped enslavement and witnessed the suffering of their brethren. As their numbers grew, they organized and dedicated themselves to the cause of liberating and protecting Warforged across the land. Over time, the Free Iron Legion has developed a reputation as a powerful and resourceful force in the fight for Warforged rights. Despite facing opposition from slavers and those who view them as mere property, the Legion remains undeterred in their mission.

Demography and Population

The Free Iron Legion is a nomadic organization, traveling across various lands with their moving city, the "Arcanum Machina." This impressive, mobile fortress is a testament to both arcane ingenuity and mechanical engineering, embodying the essence of the Warforged who call it home. As the Free Iron Legion is primarily composed of Warforged, the demographics within the Arcanum Machina reflect this, with a vast majority of the population being Warforged. However, a small percentage of other races who sympathize with their cause or have formed alliances with the Free Iron Legion also reside within the moving city. These individuals include skilled artisans, scholars, and adventurers who contribute to the organization's objectives and provide support to Warforged residents.   The population of Arcanum Machina is distributed across various districts, with residential areas for Warforged and their allies, workshops, arcane laboratories, and training facilities. Each district serves a specific function in the city, reflecting the efficient and organized nature of the Free Iron Legion.   Given that Warforged do not reproduce biologically, the average birth rate within the Arcanum Machina is negligible. However, the organization continuously grows as they liberate more Warforged and "reignite" their sentience, effectively increasing their numbers.   The death rate among the Free Iron Legion's population varies depending on external factors such as conflicts, accidents, or illnesses. As Warforged are immune to diseases that affect biological creatures, their death rate is generally lower than other races. However, combat losses or casualties from other hazards do contribute to a fluctuating death rate.   In summary, the demographics of the Free Iron Legion's moving city, Arcanum Machina, predominantly consist of Warforged, with a small percentage of other races who support their cause. The population is distributed across various districts, each serving a specific function. Birth rates are negligible due to the nature of Warforged, while death rates fluctuate depending on various factors such as conflicts and accidents.

Foreign Relations

The Free Iron Legion's foreign relations are focused on building alliances with sympathetic organizations and individuals. They maintain diplomatic channels with various factions that share their goals or provide support for their cause. They are cautious in their dealings with governments and institutions that may harbor unfavorable views towards Warforged or be complicit in their exploitation. The Legion is not afraid to confront such entities when necessary but prefers diplomatic solutions whenever possible.
