Ran Esumi

Ran owns and operates Esumi Orchards in Iron Home. He is not particularly social, but he is generally liked because he employs a large number of out of work miners.

Personal History

Ran's specific birthplace in S82 is not known, but he grew up moving around Hiro-On primarily.
Around S285 he began spending a lot of time in Takusen, eventually falling in love with a human woman whose family grew apples outside the town. The two were married in S290 and had a daughter, named Rumi, in S294.
When the Northern Undead Invasion broke out in S305, Ran joined the fight, eventually as a member of the 4th Squad that operated ahead of the main force and handled special assignments. During this time Takusen became victim to a number of bandit groups that knew most guards and soldiers were away fighting. It was one such group that murdered Ran's wife and left his 11 year old daughter for dead. Luckily Rumi was found and saved by neighbors who took care of her until Ran returned home the following year.
Heartbroken, Ran left the north for good and brought his daughter to the quiet town of Iron Home in the Southern Province. Using all of the resources at his disposal, he was able to start a grove of apple trees, reminiscent of the ones his late wife had always loved. Over the next decade he expanded the grove into Esumi Orchards and helped to employ many of the town's out of work miners during harvest seasons.
