Advisor

The title of 'Advisor' (pirùsa in Eoin, lit. one who knows, knower of things) does not have an official status, but those who surround the Eoin court know the respect needed for such a title.    In order to obtain this job, one must have worked in several different departments within the Eoin government, specifically, no less than three. Within each department, one must have attained at least a medium to high rank and have left each one in good standing. Being of noble birth is not a necessity for the rank, but most who have held it have been nobles. This is because nobility are the ones most likely to have high titles within the government.    There is no ceremony for the conference of the rank. Instead, a ruler will choose those whom they believe are the most qualified to assist them in decision making. Even being selected for this role does not automatically confer the title. At some point during talking, the ruler will refer to the person by the title. This must not be acknowledged as something important at first to show humility. The person being honored must continue as thought nothing was said. There are always witnesses.    After this, the knowledge of the new title will spread through the court and the person will be given deference in discussions from this point forward. Most former rulers attain the title after passing power on to their children. It is considered a courtesy from the child to refer to their parent by this title should they choose to act in the role. However, they are usually referred to by their other title (former ruler, or honored parent).    While there can be more than one holder of the title, Cardus Hishu is currently the only person who is addressed this way.
