Bazdresra Sniarsti

The Bazdresra Sniarsti (Shining Mountains) is the second largest mountain range on the Seleim continent. Its name is derived from the massive amount of resources found within the mountains, from precious and useful metals to precious gemstones and jewels. In Eoin, the mountains are called Huitsiyani Weteno, a literal translation of the Yzelian name. This is due to the fact that Eoion did not originally have control of any part of the range. Ulena, a long since conquered kingdom, along with Yzel split control of the area for many years. However, in 200, Yzel conquered Ulena for control of the whole range. In Yzel, the mountains were a large source of the jewels that the nation was partially famous for. However, the north held metals like copper, tin, silver, and gold, along with components for making steel, other useful metals. Diamonds were also predominantly found there. All of these were desirable to the kingdom. In 298, Ilya Shiroko, the first emperor of Eoion freed Ulena from Yzel's control before establishing the wider empire. Ulena was then annexed into the empire in 303, officially placing the mountain range in the control of Eoion. The first major war since the establishment of the empire was fought when Yzel wanted to reclaim the lost Ulena territory. This sparked a series of military clashes between Eoion and Yzel. The ensuing Four Great Wars were all, in part, due to conflict arising from a desire to control the mountain range. These wars have resulted in a tenuous peace treaty between the nations was created by Empress Inna I Shiroko and has lasted for thirty years.
