Parishi (pah'REE'shee)

Overview

Parishi is the birthplace of Ilya Shiroko and home to the largest Dea temple in Eoion . The town was nothing special during Ilya’s time, just a minor city ruled by a small noble family. After Ilya’s ascension to the throne, people began traveling there because the emperor spent time in the town to visit. His life and death, along with his designation as a Dea, brought about a windfall for the city. With his ascension to semi-divine status, the Shiroko family constructed a temple, the Deajiahn, there to encourage his worship, along with other previously established Dea. Most people in the city are connected with the temple in some way, but the hospitality industry has flourished due to the number of pilgrims and tourists that come each year, particularly around Ilya’s birthday.
  • Deajiahn- the temple is located in the center of Parishi. While Ilya is the main Dea worshipped there, the temple also houses rooms for other major Dea. The building itself is four stories tall, with a circular architecture and stained glass windows on all sides. Each room has a window depicting a major scene from the specific Dea’s life. The main entrance hall is surrounded by statues of all major Dea and acts as a gathering place for worshippers. There are also rooms radiating off of the main hall, six in total, where each of the essences can be studied and practiced. The second floor houses rooms for the minor regional Dea. Above this are the major Dea rooms. The fourth floor is dedicated to Ilya alone and is split between light and heat essence practice. A statue of his tsirin, Soloia, is housed there and some of her ashes are placed at the heart. The rest were buried with Ilya in accordance with Bolugama tradition.

Demographics

Most of the permanent residents are religious scholars, essence magic practitioners, and those who support them. Among the latter group, there are also those who have taken to the tourist industry. Given how many pilgrims come to the city each year, particularly around Ilya's birthday, there are a large number of hotels, restaurants, and other such places. These are kept away from the Deajihan as it is considered disrespectful and disruptive to have potentially rowdy people near a place of worship.

Government

The high priest and priestess at the Deajihan, along with two representatives from the lay people oversee the administration of the city. Appointments for the lay people last three years. For the high priest and priestess, they are chosen in a separate ceremony in accordance with the traditions of Bolugama and only change on the administrative body when they change at the temple.
