Richard Lohdan
Richard is a descendant of the Daji head who caused the split between them and the main Yzelian military, Ezrey Lohdan. His family is highly respected within the Daji and have a strong rivalry with the Tseres, the second most powerful family within the Daji. He was brought up within the military and conditioned to someday take over from his mother. Richard learned how to track, fight, and lead while never being particularly interested in any of it. His attention lay in magic and he dug deep into the creation of the Ilyannoi . To further his studies, he learned Essence and Fusion magic, becoming extremely adept in both. In particular, he became a skilled cae-esh. Mimicking what he thought had been done to create the monsters, he set up a small lab within the Daji headquarters and began experimenting. Several years of failure caused his family to start thinking about installing his cousin as the next head and he only shrugged. Whatever happened on the politics side wasn’t his concern. It was five years into his work that he had his first viable creature, Voltaire, but he escaped and Richard was forced to start again. The next success was Raico. Up against the original Ilyannoi, he could see that his success wasn’t perfect, but he would do. The fact that he had created something useful made him once more the center of attention within his family, although he firmly stated that his cousin was more suited to leading and he would stay with research. While he can fight decently with a sword, his primary magic is smoke based. He uses his ‘annoying habit’ as his father put it, and infuses the fumes with magic. Breathing the smoke from his pipe can induce hallucinations, cause painful muscle contortions, allow him to see through another living being’s eyes, etc depending on how he uses it.
During a meeting of the Daji, he made the acquaintance of Daniila Kurem. The two began a romance shortly after. He is genuinely in love with him. and does not know about the man’s motives or cult.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Richard is tall, with a leaner build than is standard for a soldier due to most of his work taking place in the lab rather than in battle. His eyes are narrow and thin, an odd thing for Yzelians and it causes some distrust in him from those who have not spoken to him often as they believe he has Eoin ancestry despite this not being the case.
The blue coloring of his hair is not natural and is the result of a fusion gone wrong his early days of study. He fused with a blue macaw and did not release the magic properly, which resulted in his hair permanently taking on the coloration of the bird's feathers.
Apparel & Accessories
Being so close to the Eoin border, his clothing reflects some of that influence, which furthers the rumors that he is a bastard of the Lohdan family with at least on Eoin ancestor. However, he simply finds the clothing more comfortable. When working on his magic, he wears more Yzelian styled clothing, which consists of a deep brown tunic with a gold chain running from one shoulder to the opposite hip, along with dark pants. A crimson sash runs around his waist.
When alone, he prefers a pale golden long robe which wraps around his body and is held by a wide, dark brown sash.
Specialized Equipment
The pipe he uses for his cae-esh magic has been modified for use as both a regular pipe and one for enhancing his magic. It is approximately thirty centimeters long and has a place at the tip for tobacco. When in battle, he tends to stay out of the fray and instead fills the tip of his pipe with various herbs. He is able to force magic through his breath and manipulate the resulting smoke to carry the drug to his targets. Carvings on the sides of the pipe assist in his magic as well.

Failures & Embarrassments
While he was able to make a creature using similar methods to those developed by Ilya Shiroko, his creatures are not tied by markers, will not pass on obedience to their descendants, and are overall weaker than the original Ilyannoi.
Morality & Philosophy
He is very pragmatic and tends to be aloof to what is going on around him outside of his research. However, he is also a romantic and wants to believe his relationship with Daniila is not tainted by his work.
