Yan Wari
Duke
Yan Wari currently holds the position of First Valet to the Baejan (emperor). His family has acted as valets for various members of the royal family for the last 100 years, earning favor with them and rising in the noble ranks, having started as marquess. Yan inherited the position from his father in the 10th year of Andriy’s reign. Before this, his mother had served under Vlabaejanvela Andriy's older sister, Baejanvela Olha II Shiroko. After Andriy's death, he began serving Taras Shiroko.
Many in the court were shocked by the continued service as Taras had deposed nearly all of those who had worked for his predecessor. Yan managed to maintain his position through a combination of family history in the role and the short time he had served under Andriy (three years).
Hardworking, stable, and extremely detail oriented, his job is to keep the emperor’s private household running smoothly, He is also responsible for organizing the ruler’s private letters. Yan himself is not a person to be bribed or manipulated. He sees his position as one of utmost trust and importance to the empire and will not jeopardize his family’s position by doing something so stupid, especially given how volatile and paranoid Taras can be. Each morning, he is the first member of the royal court to see the emperor, waking him with “Your Imperial Majesty, please rise.”
