The Forces take a hand.

After many thousands of years, the Forces - the Vis - begin to take a more direct, and sentient, hand in things. The ancestral races are able to change their form at will, to better adapt to the primeval environment, but they also become more of what they truly are, the forms we think of today.   This is an active era politically - many peoples begin to settle in the ruins of the first elemental occupants, and the first countries, and even empires, are established. In the southermost part of the (still whole) continent, the progenitors of the Valasian people reject the Forces and being to worship the Elder elemental gods.
