Founding

Ernil of Marketdale, a perrin shopkeeper and homebuilder, unites the Dales to repel an invasion of viellun, and inadvertantly establishes a nation.

It had been a bad winter, but they perrin of the northern Dales had seen bad winters before. They hadn't seen quite so many of the shorter, squatter goblin tribe before, however. Fully three of the provinces fell, thier marshalls killed, before Ernil of Marketdale could convince them to band together and go repel the invasion.   He led the people to victory over the goblin hordes, and established a "jury of marshals" with the twelve remaining community leaders. The nation was then established, and Ernil retired. The confederacy was a very informal government, and remains so to this day.
