Kasians

In the desert it is harsh and unforgiving. You should be likewise if you want to win a war.

Culture

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

All Kasians receive a ceremonial tattoo on their left forearm whenever they come of age. The tattoo can be a word or an image, but receiving the tattoo is a sign of entering into the adult world. The tattoo is very painful to get because the ink goes bone deep. That way even if they die and their bodies decay on the battlefield the tattoo will still be visible. In the army it is required to list what tattoo you have so they may identify your body easily if you fall.   As part of marriage for Kasians the couple will perform the battle of marriage dance. A martial form that the couple will do in tandem. Close family and friends will don black veils with writing on them that say, "Jealousy", "Angry" "Impatient", "Misunderstanding", "Silence", "Alone", and "Unbalanced". These are considered the seven destructions of marriage. The couple must defend themselves with a pair of twin swords. Each couple wields one sword showing that though the twin swords are separated they still work in tandem. They couple will "strike" down the enemies of their marriage becoming stronger because of it.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

For Kasians scars are a sign of beauty. The scars on a body tell that they survived the fight. That they were strong enough to overcome their enemy.

Courtship Ideals

Courting for Kasians is much like a battle. When two people are interested in one another romantically they typically start flirting with arm wrestling or fighting matches against each other. This led to some confusion when other cultures starting challenging Kasians to matches for "fun" or "honor" and the Kasian would lean in for a quick kiss during the match to show they were interested. Another sign of courtship is making an item or weapon to be used in battle by another. The item or weapon is both beautiful and deadly. Balancing these two aspects can be difficult, but if done correctly it is said to win the heart of most Kasians.
