Session 29: Radiance Unbound

General Summary

December 28, 2023       Descending down into the lair of the Holy Order of Rockshambo was slow and halting. On the way, there were three hand sigils: carta, saxom, and forfex which decorated the other cultists you’ve encountered and any equipment that they carried. You spied two figures: one in chains behind a lonesome person. When you made it to the bottom of the lift, the party split up: Theo went in the direction that The Eternal Diviner went in–trying to get as close to Smithe Aludin’s position as possible. Fen and Thorns fell into stealth and crept closer to the two people while Durand and his troops made a direct, stealthy approach down the middle. Thorns tripped on an old piece of wood that revealed that the figure standing at the end was Swyn, and called out for Thorns to approach. He did and stalled for time as the rest of the group inched closer and closer. Thorns spied Daisy and Joan were unconscious and bound to two of the pillars above him. Swydolyn asked Thorns for the golden orb he possessed but Theo had enough of this and cast locust swarm on them. That commenced the fight where Swyn tried to get the orb from Thorns by force and by pickpocketing him with a mysterious sticky grip but Fen fished it out of their pocket and tossed it to Theo, who turned invisible once again. Defeated, Swyn used his remaining blue orb to call for aid, where a blue dragon broke through the ceiling, collapsing the pillars, knocking Daisy and Joan to the ground, and revealing the eclipse overhead. A grueling fight ensued where Rana, the dragon, and Swyn took turns exchanging blows with you and Durand while The Eternal Diviner worked on setting The Protector free. Once he was, he rained radiance down on the dragon and dealt heavy damage to it. Fen worked on stabilizing Daisy and when Thorns restored some HP, Fen professed her love to Daisy, who reciprocated, but said that they would need to talk about this after the fight. With a distant roar, two greatwyrms descended onto the battlefield. They immediately made passes at Rana and joined the fray. Daisy did her best to damage control, bringing Thorns back up when he had been knocked unconscious, and Fen began to make their way over to Joan, who wasn’t doing too well. Swyn summoned some skeletons to bar the path but that didn’t stop them. Barrelling past them, Fen reached Joan’s side as she took her last breath. Fen tried their best to save her and in a rage, Theo obliterated Swyn, who melted into a puddle of ooze with hundreds of eyes before disappearing. Joan’s body also began to become enwrapped in spider silk, to Fen’s dismay. The greatwyrms made one more pass, each taking a bite out of the dragon as the party took a moment to try and save Joan. The two riders—Grima and Nafni—introduced themselves as riders from the Vale, but Fen ignored this and demanded to be knocked out, wanting to see Loth after Thorns’s bargain with Tekkdekk was ignored. Theo swiftly punched Fen, who woke up in Loth’s domain. Finding a room with multiple cocoons and Loth within, she and Fen spoke, learning that Joan was simply a shell, a fragment of Loth. Fen demanded to see Joan again as she had recovered. Loth said she understood Fen’s pain but didn’t know if the path ahead would allow for it, but she would see what she could do. Fen returned, opened Joan’s bag, and uncovered some trinkets, the charlatan’s die that was given to her from Thorns, and a poem that was written to you three.
