The Monarch of Maleperduis & Lord of the Hunt, Reynard

Physical Description

Special abilities

  • Tricks of the Fox
Reynard's Lineage is blessed with special abilities and attributes that have aided them in outsmarting their enemies for years. These abilities are called Tricks, and no King of Maleperduis is complete without their own. Reynard possessed an affinity for learning numerous Tricks of previous Maleperduis Kings, a comprehensive list of his known Tricks are;
  1. Minor Probability Manipulation; Users can manipulate probability, how likely an event is to occur, or how likely it is that a proposition is true.
  2. Karma EmpowermentUser becomes stronger, faster, more durable, etc. from karma, the phenomenon of actions begetting the consequences in tandem with the nature of those actions, possibly unlocking abilities related to the affinity and enhancing their existing powers.
  • Throne World: Den of Malperdy
All Kings of the Lineage of Maleperduis can manifest the Den of Malperdy Throne World, a Dimensional technique that pulls anyone within a 500-meter radius, from the 3rd Dimension to the 5th, into an expansive Realm full of infinite corridors, halls, rooms, and space. Reynard can freely move about this Realm, creating new pathways and openings wherever he wants, and closing them just as fast. The main advantage of conjuring this Throne World gives Reynard environmental advantages. However, the range to pull enemies into this Realm is relatively small when compared to other Throne World techniques, it is cast within seconds, allowing especially fast beings to dodge it, and especially powerful beings can break out of it. As such, Reynard never uses it to overpower an enemy.

The Siege of Maleperduis

When Reynard was still a Prince, word was spread that he was the bastard son of High Queen Belle, who had a secret affair with his father. High King Nobel had his wife killed for this insult and dispatched his forces to put the Kingdom of Maleperduis to the sword. Reynard's uncle, the Dire-Wulf Ysengrim, led the attack, sacked the capital, and slew King Remington. The Prince of Lionsgate was sent to do the same to Prince Reynard.   Maleperduis and Lionsgate had maintained a good alliance before this war, as seen no better than with the friendship of their two Princes, Reynard and Leonine. The two were battle brothers and shared a deep connection. King Nobel forced Leonine to slay his own brother and Reynard was forced into a situation by the defeat of his father by his uncle. They fought at the Fall of Cowtail Keep, and Reynard used his tricks to come out on top, though gravely wounded, taking Leonine's sword as his prize before fleeing his ruined kingdom.   Reynard would lead a rebellion against King Leonine many years later, one that ended in the capital of Lionsgate, where Reynard would kill his brother after a lifetime of war and death. He spared his young son Ghadhanfar, adopting him as his Ward, and finally restoring Maleperduis to its former glory, crowned as Fox-King Reynard, Full of Tricks.
