Gungnir, the Swaying One (ˈɡʌŋ.nɪər)

Mechanics & Inner Workings

  • The Timber of Yggdrasil
The body of Gungnir is cast from Yggdrasilian Timber, gifted to Godalupe by Ratatoskir. The timber makes the spear nigh-indestructible, excellent at conducting magical energy, and has a deep innate connection to the tree and all the Realms connected to it.
  • The Star-Piercing Tip of Níðhöggr
Níðhöggr is a great beast that trims the branches of Yggdrasil, Godalupe made off with one of her claws and collapsed a billion supernovas into it. Níðhöggr can open rifts between any and all Realms on command, and thus this spearhead allows Gungnir to do the same on a controlled level.
  • Draupnir, the Rings of Infinity
Purchased from Brokkr and Eitri for a hefty price, Draupnir is the Ring of Endless Rings which will produce an endless supply of copies. When used to craft Gungnir, it allows the spear to be duplicated an endless amount of times  so long as Godwyn has the original Gungnir.

History

Godalupe, Holy Goddess of the Forge and Fire, was a smith, unlike any other, and half-sister to Lord Godwyn the All-Knowing. When Godwyn created Ásgard, Enclosure of the Æsir, all his siblings gifted him one present, Godalupe would craft her brother a spear unlike any other.
She purchased the infinitely duplicating ring, Draupnir, from the smith brothers Brokkr and Eitri. From the Hallowed Creature Ratatoskir, she received a single branch from the World Tree. And finally, she collapsed a billion dying stars into a claw from Níðhöggr. When combined and crafted together, the legendary weapon Gungnir was brought to life.

Significance

Gungnir is a symbol of power for Lord Godwyn and the Æsir Gods. All temples and depictions of our Lord feature the spear in some way, typically obstructed as a walking stick for our sage lord. This representation matches Godwyn's relation to war and violence; carry a weapon if you must, but only use it when forced to do.
