Ywain, the Knight of the Lion

The Lord of Brocéliande, Scion of the House of Rhygoed & Legendary Round Table Knight, Ywain Le Fay Goedwyn- Broceliandeur

Physical Description

Special abilities

Users with this ability either or can transform into a satyr or faun: a half-human - half-goat (from the head to the waist being the human half, but with the addition of goat horns) manifestation of forest and animal spirits which would help or hinder humans at whim.
Fauns and satyrs were originally quite different creatures: whereas fauns are half-man and half-goat, satyrs originally were depicted as stocky, hairy, ugly dwarfs or woodwoses with the ears and tails of horses or asses. In earlier art, they were portrayed as quite ugly, though later they became more youthful and graceful. Satyrs also were more woman-loving than fauns, and fauns were rather foolish whereas satyrs had more knowledge.
  • Healing Factor
The users can Heal themselves and restore biotic organisms to their optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. Though the user may potentially heal any form of bodily damage, the patient must be alive, even if hanging by a thin thread, in order to be healed; once the patient has died, it would transcend healing and would require resurrection instead.

Specialized Equipment

la Bague de Murmure Innocente

When hunted by the Brocéliande Knights, Ywain received this magical ring from Duchess Lunete of House Balzac to aid in his escape. It allows him to become invisible and intangible, undetectable by most technological means and magical sensory types. The ring was an heirloom of the Balzac house but was officially gifted to King Ywain when he was wed to Queen Laudine.

The Grateful Aura Ring

A ring bestowed on Ywain when married, imparted to him by his wife Queen Laudine. The ring has magical abilities, namely protecting Ywain and ensuring that he will return back home whenever he travels abroad.

Sword of Fable, Starshatterer

Starshatterer was a massive great sword gifted to Sir Ywain by his mother Queen Morgana when he became a man. The weapon was forged from a falling star and enchanted by Morgana. With Ywain's command, the sword calls forth meteros and falling stars from across the Realms to rain down on his enemies. The blade itself was immensely dense and unwieldy for lesser beings.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Ywain is the 1st born son of King Urien and Queen-Consort Mogana of The House of Rhygoed, second in line for the throne and stalwart noble warrior. He was raised by handmaidens and became the sudo-leader of his younger brothers, and his father's favorite son by far. Ywain was the greatest of his siblings, inheriting his father's bold disposition and his mother's cunning mind. His death rocked the House of Rhygoed and changed Lady Morgana forever.

Education

Ywain, like his siblings, received his formal Magic education in Avalon, under the guidance of former Queen Ygraine, his grandmother. Like all members of the Le Fay lineage, Ywain had an affinity for Magical concepts and excelled at his studies, mastering all 8 Schools. He received his formal education from Skáld Deiniol Dey in the form of Science, Philosophy, Arithmetic, Poetry, and Alchemy. With Rhygoed's alliance with Camelot, Ywain was sent to study under Sir Lancelot in King Arthur's court, where he mastered the blade and perfected his combative skills.

Reign

Of the Red King, the Lady of Brocéliande, and how the Prince was made a King

Ywain's cousin, Sir Colgrevance, the son of Princess Mazoe le Fay, was cut down by the Red King of the Brocéliande Kingdom, for attempting to drink from the Lord's magical fountain. When King Urien heard of how his brother's son was killed, he commanded Sir Ywain to repay the debt, pound-for-pound. Ywain and his Knights journeyed to Brocéliande to face Sir Esclados, the Red King of Brocéliande. Ywain faced Esclados in open and single combat and defeated him without fail.
With the defeat of the Red King, the Brocéliande imperial military started a man-hunt for the Knight and his forces, taking substantial damage. Ywain, wounded from his duel, would have perished, but was saved by a court official, Duchess Lunete, who gifted the Knight a magical ring to render him both invisible and intangible to escape unmolested. The Duchess was not fond of war and knew with the death of King Esclados, the Great War would approach their doorstep. She held council with the Queen, Laudine, and convinced her to instead wed Ywain to gain the support and protection of the Houses Camelot and Rhygoed, as well as the USC.

About the Knight of the Lion, the One known as Jötunn-Feller, & the Banisher of Daemons

Ywain has had many exploits in his life, to list them all here would be excessive and an exercise in redundancy, a task better-left for The Academy of Tarus Abid or The Owlwyn Collective. For our purposes, 3 will suffice to demonstrate his abilities and prowess as a Round Table Knight.
The first is how Prince Ywain obtained his epithet, 'the Knight of the Lion". In his youth, before his marriage to Queen Laudine, Ywain journeyed across the Realms, sent by his lord father King Urien to slay a Kháos Dragon terrorizing a Realm of farmers. Ywain traveled to the Realm of Nárland to find the beast had already wiped out the Mortal population. Ywain descended into its nest to face the foul creature to find the last native of this realm and its culture, a great beast a full foot taller than her with great horns and three heads; a Lion of excellent build. Ywain freed the beast and it accompanied him to face Uneissath, the Voiceless One, slaying him and forming a cost of armor from its scales. The Lion, the last of its kind, resolved to journey with Ywain and has been with him since.
The second is how King Ywain journeyed to Jötunheim, home of the Jötunn, on an invitation from Jarl Hrautr, to feast with him in celebration of their alliance. King Ywain was to bring his daughter, Princess Heledd, to wed Hrautr's niece, Sennlúji, in accordance with the alliance. Hrautr and Ywain were both jolly and faithful, abiding by all conventions. The error arose with Princess Heledd, who found the way of the Jötunn life crude and barbaric and insulted Sennlúji. Hrautr took offense to this and threatened Heledd, which provoked Ywain to defend his offspring. Hrautr challenged Ywain to a duel which he begrudgingly accepted. They dueled at sunrise and despite his immense size, Hrautr was felled. His sons, Myng, Silgr, Fomr, Bárn, Fungnimr, and Vyt all lept to avenge their fallen father and Ywain's knights lept to defend their Lord. When Ywin's forces withdrew from the Realm, many Jötunn and Knights lay dead. Needless to say, this was the last time Ywain made a marriage attempt for Princess Heledd.
The third is how King Ywain was charged by his younger brother Rhun to aid him in expelling two powerful Khaos Daemons back to the Outer Realms to save his pregnant wife. King Ywain arrived in Griprheimr Realm with his daughter Princess Maredudd to aid King Rhun. Rhun's wife, Queen Yuno, was pregnant with their son, Prince Sengoku, but was beset by two Daemons, Zarzihithre and Lankhamishta, who are owed the life of Yuno's firstborn via a contract she made ages ago in exchange for great power. Out of fear of hurting Yuno, Ywain and Maredudd move cautiously to attempt to sever the bond with the Daemons. Ywain and his daughter moved into the astral plane to face the creatures, holding back their own power to save Yuno but just enough to be fatal to Zarzihithre and Lankhamishta. The twins' hold on the unborn Sengoku was broken and they banished them back to the Outer Realms forever. Yuno and Sengoku's lives were spared but she lost all her great power as a result of voiding the contract.

On the Death of King Ywain & His Brothers

King Ywain the Courageous was called on by a phantom of Merlin to go and intercept Arthur's bastard, Mordred le Fay, his incestuous cousin, from reaching Arthur. Ywain called for his brothers, Rhilwallon, Elffin, Rhun, and Pasgen who all raised their banners and rode with him to intercept the bastard. Fagrland was the Realm that became Ywain's tomb, where he fell facing Mordred. But let it not be thought Sir Ywain was a timid sort, nor was he so easily felled, even by the mighty Mordred. They battled for hours and Ywain was the last to fall, but not before mortally wounding the Black Knight in return.
Or, the records claim. However, some sources see things differently. Let us now recall young Sir Newyddilyn Esau, son of the late Esclados Esau, the former Red King and 1st Lord Husband of Queen Laudine. When Ywain bed Laudine and gat her with his own heir, Uchdryd Yarwood, Newyddilyn was set aside. Although a boy, he never forgot this transgression, regardless of how well his father's killer treated him. The story goes that Newyddilyn conjured the phantom of Merlin (This holds weight as by this time it is well known King Arthur had already dismissed Merlin to secret away his only living children, even from himself) and sent Ywain on his death, accompanying him to "serve justice to this traitor". However, when the battle drew to a close, it is said Ywain prepared to deliver the killing blow to a wounded Mordred, but Newyddilyn intervened and killed the weakened Knight.
King Mordred Pendragon, The Black claims Ywain did grievously wound him but the haze of war clouded him from vision and is unsure of how Ywain actually died. Queen Laudine refuses such insults to her house and Queen Morgana blames Mordred regardless, as Newyddilyn could never have killed her son had Mordred not been rebelling at the time. Newyddilyn himself was found among the dead at the Last Stand where Mordred killed Arthur, far from Fagrland. He either chased Mordred to avenge the man who raised him as his own kin or teamed up with the traitorous Black Legion and was cut down by Arthur.

Duchess Lunete was a scion from House Balzac, a once great regal power hounded from The Celestial Empire ages ago by The Risauyama Dynasty during an exchange of power. The Balzac's would eventually find a place in the court of Brocéliande under House Esau as stewards of some 12 lesser Realms. Lunete, the youngest daughter of Duke Edouard, was sent to advise the good Queen Laudine who had been friends with Lunete in her youth. After the death of King Esclados, House Esau would be dissolved and Queen Laudine's House, Broceliandeur, would be returned to power with the new Consort-King Ywain.
Lunete would have a secret relationship with her new Consort-King and was gat with 12 of his offspring, 5 beautiful daughters, and 7 mighty sons. During the war, King Ywain was successful in subduing a collection of Realms far from the primary Kingdom of Brocéliande and moved Duchess Lunete and his bastards to this new colony, Little Céliande, and she was placed as the Duchess of House Celiandet (little Celiande), a branch bloodline of the ruling Broceliandeur House.

Wealth & Financial state

The entire wealth of the Kingdom of Brocéliande was Ywain's, his right as King of the Realms. In addition to this fortune, Ywain made sure to take his lion's share from all of his expeditions. Additionally, he revived tribute from The House of Rhygoed as a member of the Royal lineage and benefited from trade with foreign powers like Asgard and High Garden.
