Maredudd the Unbreakable

Queen of Brocéliande, Blood of Urien Coeling, Legendary Round Table Knight Maredudd Le Fay-Coeling Yarwood

Physical Description

Special abilities

User with this ability either is or can transform into a nymph (literally: young woman; bride, young wife), a female nature spirit typically associated with a particular location or land-form or servants/retinue of a more powerful being, often a deity. They dwell in mountains and groves, by springs and rivers, and also in trees and in valleys and cool grottoes. Although they would never die of old age or illness and could give birth to fully immortal children if mated to a god, they themselves were not necessarily immortal and could be beholden to death in various forms.
Normally it is nature itself that gives birth to a nymph who is linked to a specific natural environment to be defended and preserved. This does not mean that the nymph cannot leave her environment but if one of the two is injured or damaged, the other will also suffer the effects, including death.
  • Vow of Innocence
After defeating an Imperfect god, Lady Maredudd made a vow to defend the innocent from the terrible War in Heaven, receiving a great many number of Lesser Souls from the various Slave-Races sacrificed for the God birth. These Souls, when paired with Maredudd's understanding of SOULcraft allow her to manipulate not only her own soul but the souls of others. Users can create shape and manipulate the soul, the incorporeal and immortal essence of a living thing, souls are usually most obviously present in sentient beings. At some level all biological organisms have souls, and even non-biological entities (such as rivers and mountains) possess something that is analogous to a soul. Most users have to learn to control their own soul first and expand from there, some may be able to learn how to tap into the essence of everything living.

Specialized Equipment

Maredudd's Greatbow

The Kings of Gorre, for ages now, have held mastery over archery and ranged weapons, a skill Urien taught to his son Ywain who taught it to his daughter Maredudd. Her Greatbow is massive, crafted from Ýdalirian Timber bearing the colors of Gorre, green, and gold. Its arrows are like great spears to mortals and carry her magical energy far and wide.

Gahibur

Maredudd's Swordstaff Gahibur was forged by her younger brother Prince Caswallawn who came to study at The Blackstone Hammer Forge as a smith. The weapon was blessed by a fire giant, capable of calling forth Ruin Flames, capable of destroying mortal fire. She wielded it with great finesse as both a weapon and a walking stick.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Maredudd was the daughter of King-Consort Ywain and Queen Laudine of the Kingdom of Brocéliande. She served as a Squire for her Lord Father on his many exploits and adventures alongside her younger twin sister Erdudvyl. Maredudd would become a Round Table Knight after her father's death and came to inherit the Thorne of Brocéliande when her older brother Uchdryd was killed. She resolved to train new Knights in her later years merely and was later killed at the Siege of Camelot.

Education

As the granddaughter of Morgana le Fay, Beholder of the Words Voyage & Flow, Maredudd was allowed to study Magic in Avalon with her sister Erdudvyl and her brother Caswallawn. She and her siblings inherited their father's affinity for Magic, boons from the Le Fay lineage, and excelled at their studies. She was taught the ways of Science, Philosophy, Arithmetic, Poetry, and Alchemy by her father's tutor, Skáld Deiniol Dey. Unlike some Squires, after completing her training, Lady Maredudd became a Wandering Knight to continue her studies at The Academy of Tarus Abid, to sharpen her critical and tactical mind. She learned her sword logic from her mother, Queen Laudine, who mastered a form of blades that utilized a great sword.

To Speak of the Corruption of Princess Erdudvyl

Maredudd had a twin sister born just seconds after herself, Princess Erdudvyl. The two were inseparable as children and were allowed to be trained together as Dragon Knights. Lady Erdudvyl was just as inquisitive as her sister but found her mind drifting more towards the arcane study of Regression and Chaos, two forces one did not want to find themselves without the proper understanding.
When Erdudvyl became lost in her studies, she vanished from her Order and her sister. Maredudd mourned her sister and sought to move on until a message beamed itself from far off in the distant Realms, one from Erdudvyl. Maredudd journeyed to the source of the signal to find an Outer Realm in ruins, where something old and wicked had taken hold of the once majestic Erdudvyl. She was no more, little more than a puppet for some great beast that bent entire species to its whims, all in service of some great machine to birth it into this physical world.
Erdudvyl fought and killed her own twin sister, triggering the premature activation of the machine and birthing an unfit god. The slave races were thrown into oblivion and the great beast now rose. Maredudd allowed herself to be devoured and buried her blade deep within the chest of the imperfect god, slaying it. The good knight buried her sister and laid all the souls of the slave races to rest as best she could with a sacred vow of innocence.

Maredudd was the Right Hand of King Uchdryd after their father died, serving as his closest council. After he was a kid during the great war with her twin sister, she kept a tighter hold of her remaining siblings, Heledd and Caswallawn, out of fear of losing them too.

However, because of the Great War and obligations, they were not together often. After the war ended and Maredudd retired, she took her place on the Throne of Brocéliande, with her Lord by her side.
