Arcanix

Sitting along the shore of Lake Galifar and in the shadows of the world-famous university for which it is named after, the town of Arcanix is defined by the educational institution which it was named after. It was not soon after The Arcanix was founded that the demand for places within the school outgrew its capacity. A town blossomed around it and morphed into the university itself as it also needed to expand and grow. Now the two are intrinsically intertwined with each other. A visitor might walk past the local butchers and find its neighbour to be one of the artificing workshops. The innovators and scholarly minds that committed their formative years to the university tended to also come from wealthy backgrounds. The money that soon flowed around the town attracted the more savvy merchants and dealers to set up shop and the towns early development was rather exponential. To this day, it continues to be a town that is more well-off than most. Many of its permanent occupants are current or former students who have found great comfort in the city and used their learned practices to establish a new business venture of one kind or another. There is always decent labour to be found among the poorer of Khorvaire's hopeful scholars who need as much money as they can make to keep up with admittance costs.
