The Lhazaar Principalities

The Lhazaar Principalities is a collection of mostly human independent city-states which, due to the natural separation offered by The Mror Holds, developed quite independently of the central Five Nations. They value independence and whilst competition over trade routes and fishing areas has long been fierce, there has never really been any desire from any of the leaders to form a larger Kingdom or nation. It wasn’t long before Lhazaarian ships sailed south and found the land of Q'barra and the lizardfolk who called it home.    Soon after this, Adderport was settled by a number of representatives from the different principalities and a grisly slave trade was born, with a huge number of the native Lizardfolk, Grung and Tortle being transported home and pressed into service of the Lhazaarian nobility.   The Lhazaarians fortune changed dramatically when, off on the horizon, new islands inexplicably came into view. A wild frenzy swept through them at this new opportunity and trade blossomed as they made first contact with citizens of His Thousand Isles, a collection of small tribal Island-based communities off the west coast of Yrillia. They were protected, however, by The Nauts and the initial boom in trade soon turned to war as the freedom-loving ship-bound nation took particular issue with their practice of slavery. Unable to compete with the naval might of the Nauts, the Lhazaar Principalities have been pushed right back to the mainland and reduced to mostly overland trade routes and the occasional smuggling for those brave enough to try and get through the Nauts persistent guard. Port Verge and Regalport were lost decades ago to the Nauts who have given the cities back to those who were enslaved there. Remaining are the three mainland principalities of Scairn, Tantamar and Cliffscrape who desperately plot a route back to the maritime freedom they once enjoyed. They have heard talk of a great empire on the Yrillian mainland who have long been enemies of the Nauts. Getting there to discuss such things would, of course, mean a difficult journey through the Isles themselves.
