The Mror Holds

Once upon a time, Dwarven kingdoms could be found right across Khorvaire. Throughout the endless rivalry with the Dragonborn hordes however, the dwarves have, historically, come off second best more often than not. Whilst many have accepted taking up lives amongst the human kingdoms and principalities, one dwarven stronghold still stands tall in the mountains of Mror Holds. United under The Iron Council, the dwarves of Mror Holds have dug in and created great, impenetrable fortresses, ever wary of what they believe to be an inevitable dragon attack. This building was financed by the mining and selling of great jewels and metals from all across the region.
The danger though, came not from wings in the sky but howls from the depths. A bridge to the Underworld was found and from across it flooded demons of the Underworld and other nightmarish dangers. Hard battles have been fought and won and some stability restored to the Mror Holds but the danger below remains, as does, with ever growing scarcity of resources near the surface, the need to burrow deeper and deeper. This growing conflict between security and prosperity has recently seen growing tensions between the Iron Council. They work not only for the survival of the Mror Holds but for what they see as the last true dwarves of Khorvaire. Whispers too, have begun to grow louder, that The Elder Dragons are not what they once were, that the Final Revenge upon their oldest enemy may soon be taken.
