Demons Of The Burning Night: Part Six

General Summary

The animated creature remorselessly hunts after Sylke who desperately evades the creature's lethal chilling spear. Her comrades close in to corner and trap the monster but they fall victim to the unnatural cold that the wight emanates. The battle lasts for a long time and as the creature weakens the waves of strength-sapping cold that it gives off intensify. Eventually the spirit is beaten down but the noise of the battle has clearly attracted other inhabitants. The warding signs on the southern doors look as if acid has eaten away the finely marked sigils and fists are pounding on the other side of a single door in the south-western corner. Fortunately a simple but stout locking-bar holds the door closed and as the party quickly recover their senses and Ugnan heals the worst of their wounds, the noises fade away.   The sarcophagus that dominates the chamber the party stand in is empty and there is a palpable feel of things left unfinished and incomplete about the elaborate tomb. The two doors to the north are similarly warded and both are silent. One leads into a small chamber that houses a now dry fountain. Carefully engraved murals on the walls depict more of the Amarrishi folk though somewhat unusually, none sport weapons or arms of any sort. The warding sign on the second northern door has been very subtly damaged, nevertheless, Cherry and Cran proceed to open the door. Beyond is a simple stone chamber with perhaps half-a-dozen simple sarcophagi. The lid of one of the tombs is open and a bandage-wrapped figure begins to rise …
