Gutsparks

Gutsparks are a particularly gruesome form of weaponised Scurasphere, and thankfully the techniques of their creation was lost during The Destruction. On the outside, they look like tiny specks, the size of a breadcrumb, but crammed within is enough matter to fill a stadium.   Unlike standard Scuraspheres, the Gutsparks were built purposefully to be weak and unstable. The magics would be made to fail upon being exposed to damage - such as through impact, or being exposed to stomach acid.   During The Godling Wars gutsparks were used in assasinations, where it was common for them to be secreted into food being served to their intended victims. As the exterior of the Gutspark get dissolved by the stomach acid, the magics of the scurasphere would be undone, and the contents released to fill their true volume, resulting in a massive outward explosion.   The victim would, of course, die immediately, but so too any within the immediate vicinity as the material within the Gutspark expanded and would crush anything within the space of up to a quarter mile - depending on the contents that had been placed within.

Gutspark variants

Other variants of Gutsparks included the development of tiny bullets or arrow heads that would perform the same effect upon impact with their target. These would be used as devastating weapons in the field   Additional effects would be created by filling the Scurasphere with different materials. This included poisonous or explosive gases, acid, water, molten lava or other materials that could give much more variety and targeted damage for the resulting explosion.

In the modern era

While exceedingly rare, some gutsparks have survived even to the modern era. They have been found in buried stores from the Godling Wars, and some have been used in conflicts across the Shatterbright and even in the assassination that saw the death of the Lord Protector of Kaltstad during the decade long insurgency that preceded the Novalucca Intervention and the eventual signing of The Tempus Accord.
