SyntheticSoul, LLC, was a tech startup in Redmond prior to nuclear meltdown that turned that part of town in Glow City.

Purpose / Function

The founders of SyntheticSoul were a team of MIT graduates, who had met in college. They were working on advanced AI prototypes, and early demos set the industry on fire with speculation. Many in the robotics and AI fields were watching this small team closely, and they were courted by all the major players in the industry - but chose to stay independent. Unfortunately, the core development and management groups were at the office during the reactor meltdown, and suffered fatal radiation exposure as a result.

The technology and assets were mostly lost at that time. Anything and everything that was off-site (digital storage, etc) was purchased by Bergen Robotics in 2015.

A two-story building, with a large, open-floor datacenter on the first floor, and offices on the second.

History

In the years since the area became an irradiated hell-hole, the office building that used to house SyntheticSoul has been taken over by a gang of nearly feral squatters referred to as The Pack.
In 2050, a signal was suddenly broadcast from the ruins of the facility onto the worldwide Matrix. It was detected by an unknown party, who hired a team of Shadowrunners to investigate and recover any working technology from the ruins.
