Amarok Hide-Piercer

Written by: Ripshot

Those engravings. Those damn engravings. I'm sorry for gettin' so sentimental writing up an article but ay dios mio, this is a thing of beauty. The Hide-PIercer was the last rifle personally workshopped by Delas Jones, and it drekking shows: Twin barrels, hand-machined sidelock break-action, ghost ring sight, the Hide-Piercer is a large game hunting rifle built for the sole purpose of putting the hurt through the toughest critter hides. The rifle's chambered in Amarok's proprietary .585 Amaguq cartridge, which fetches a high price if you're buying straight from the corp at 300¥ for a box of ten and third-party outlets only producing it in small numbers at a time, but the cartridge's performance isn't questioned, with fucktons of trids of enthusiasts demonstrating its penetration powers on innocent household appliances.
And plenty of trids demonstrating its recoil on hapless shoulders. Gun's probably broken more bones in users than it has in its targets.

Now, Amarok obstinately refuses to market the gun as anything but a hunting/wilderness-defence gat, but the rifle's found a very useful secondary market in urban enviroments, too. Having only two shots before needing to reload might not sound appealing to your modern sensibilities, but when those shots can punch holes through body-armor, it was inevitable that people started buying them (or the Aztechnockoffs), cutting the barrel and stock down to size and keeping one under their coat or behind the bar, as an impromptu anti-razerboy cannon. Like a derringer but useful, omae.
