Nyemba's Might

Battle armor of the first king of Mbala. It is made of hundreds of overlapping silvery plates carved to look like feathers and is trimmed with red and gold. The helmet is fashioned into an eagles’ head festooned with bright red feathers.   The armor is crafted in the likeness of its namesake, Nyemba, the Storm's Fury.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Requires attunement.
  • +1 scale mail
  • Resistance to lightning damage
  • Eyes of Nyemba. The helm's visor has crystal lenses that can move in front of the wearer’s eyes. When placed, they grant advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight. In conditions of clear visibility, you can make out details of even extremely distant creatures and objects as small as 2 feet across. The lenses will not function if the rest of the armor isn’t worn. If the lenses are removed from the helm, they permanently loose their magic.
  • Nyemba’s Fury. While you rage, you emanate a stormy, magical aura. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. When this effect is activated, you can choose one other creature you can see in your aura. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). The target takes 1d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases when you reach certain levels, increasing to 2d6 at 8th level, 3d6 at 11th level, and 4d6 at 17th level.
  • Wings of Nyemba. While wearing the armor, you can use an action to speak a command word. This conjures a pair of spectral bird wings on your back for 1 hour or until you repeat the command word as an action. The wings give you a flying speed of 60 feet. When they disappear, you can't use them again for 1d12 hours.
