South Continent

South Continent is the portion of land between the Sorrowful River (which is not a river but a strait) and another Strait. The "South Strait" is one among many denominations given by scholars to a passage most Sailor Castes and other common folk consider as part of Open Sea.       For most practical purposes the South Strait is as useless for humans as Open Sea. Even more so, actually. Human fishermen sail close to the costs at most areas touched by Open Sea, but avoid the territory rich in small islands where South Continent stands closer to South Pole.             In contrast, the Sorrowful River is intensely navigated. Most South Coast of it is taken by Ungnuie Forest, also know as Forest Man's Jungle. The region East of that jungle is a prosperous and well populated territory, disputed by small cities, large villages, and powerful Warlords, each one sovereign in the territory under the shadow of his feudal castle.           This is the most densely populated region of Sharitarn. And gives the South Continent an human population higher than the one living on the Main Continent.         This third of South Continent more at West also serves as home for more undeads than the rest of Sharitarn. Necromancy works better here, particularly close to the South-West Coast, and corpses often raise spontaneously to became low undeads of some kind (zombies mostly, sometimes skeletons).           Micula, the Pearl of West, sees the entire region as its backyard and constantly try to destroy all undeads. For reasons related to its History Micula government promotes a endless war against Necromancers and undeads.          East Cost is under the protection of Shirshan, the Green Poison. Here the endless conflict happens between the non-human race of Giants, who live their timeless existences in barbaric tribes on Giant Mountains, and the might power of Shirshan.          Unlike it's counterpart at West Shirshan suffers little from the giants. The tribal chiefs are more a local curiosity than a treat in the eyes of common folk inside Green Poison. Giant women are hunted on their mountains, taken to Main Market and sold since anyone can remember. All important families in the city have some giant blood in them (despite the difficulty of make breed between humans and giants happen, and the high cost of magic elixirs needed for make that a possibility).        South Continent has the lower variations of temperature on the surface of the planet (excluded the region inside Stone Noodles).        I would not say that is a ideal environment for human life, but the closest of a comfortable clime that you will get on Sharitarn is somewhere on South Continent, south the Forest Man's territory or possibly between it and Micula.
