Medical
Sanctuary may be relatively safe, but the keyword is relatively. Accidents happen every day, after all. And sometimes a simple cut allows the alien environment to seep into flesh in unexpected ways. For any time a colonist is experiencing the adverse effects of planetary living on Auberon there are the medical experts of Sanctuary - skilled in treating (or attempting to, in any case) whatever ails you, both physical and psychological.
Medical is perhaps, quite like Agriculture, a complicated affair to run. Tasked with the overseeing numerous different factions and sectors, Tranquil Valley Memorial Institute is busy at the best of times - and absolute carnage at worst. Those with minor ailments will visit on-call doctors and medical personnel, who act on a rotation shift basis throughout the week, and these are comprised of medical practitioners who volunteer for the task or elder doctors who cannot handle the hustle and bustle of the emergency department.
The emergency department is always full, always. Crash carts, blood, mucus, frantic doctors - oh, the beautiful mess of a Monday morning! Medical personnel of all kinds of experience will be found here, whether that be magical, physical, or they just have a really awesome gut-feeling! Shift patterns can be any time, any place, and Tranquil Valley does not discriminate in who it takes. Once you have been there long enough, you might be able to tell what an injury is just by how they scream. Naturally, the most frequent occupiers of beds used to be Resource Acquisition, however, due to the closing off of Sanctuary, Maintenance has now taken the front spot, followed by Security and Agriculture. Waiting times for the emergency room are surprisingly quick, and most treatment is accurate.
Within Tranquil Valley there is also a mental health department filled with psychologists who will try their best to mend those broken emotions - though, referrals must be made through an on-call doctor first, due to waiting times.
Beneath Tranquil Valley is the Morgue, led by none other than Dr Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard himself. The Morgue is a strange space, and many above-ground doctors refuse to go down there due to superstition and the supposed patient-curse (any doctor who visits the Morgue in person, their next patient will die). The Morgue is built on uneven ground and is strangely run-down despite the advanced machinery that is down there. Needless to say, not many individuals are recruited into working with the dead, leaving only Dr Mallard and less than a handful of assistants (actually, only one at present). Only those who work at the Morgue knows what paths the dead take once they are there - however, rumour has it, even they do not know how Sanctuary disposes of the bodies…
Their leader, Dr Levi Gardiner frequents the emergency department rather often and sees himself as no different to any other doctor on the floor. He is also diligent about his work throughout his on-call hours, taking his turn as everyone must do in the long nights.
