The choice was between banishment of dragons or giants. They chose giants

The races of man began to distrust the giants, genie, and dragon. The dragon made amends but also have a solid pass because their god khalas still existed on our plane. it is also said that khalas is the reason the planet stays alive and healthy with his breath alone.   The giants were banned from the lands of man and had to be confined to the mountains or be attacked on sight. the genie were sent to the deserts to live in hostility. The dragons agreed to stay out of any foreseeable war between giants and men.
