Arima Hotaru
Shinano's Most Eligible Bachelor
Younger brother of Arima Jioji and the current head of the Arima Clan.
Considered the most handsome man in all the land, Hotaru's looks and his position as leader of the wealthiest clan in Shinano has made the question of his inevitable marriage one of the most talked about among the idle gossips of the land. He has so far taken no concubines or known lovers, and is presumed to be a virgin.
The choice of a bride will not be his, however. His brother Jioji's former infertility has made the subject of Hotaru's marriage and offspring an existential one for the Arima, and one of deeply personal interest for the daimyo.
Hotaru generally is perceived as kind and considerate, but lazy and ineffectual. He is famous for apologizing for imposing on people who are theoretically at his beck-and-call, leading to the nickname "Sumima-sama" (Lord Excuse-Me).
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Hotaru is of slight build, and often wears robes that are too large for his body. Like all Arima, he keeps his hair long and his skin unblemished. Despite this, he is considered to be in excellent physical shape, though he has shown no signs of applying himself as a warrior.
