Overseer
Requirements
An Overseer needs to be picked from the highest-ranking members of the Nightfeather Lodge and follows the same skill and dedication requirements as them.
In addition, the Overseer should be a person that the Raven Lord trusts enough to handle sensitive and confidential information, and able to make the right decision in difficult situations if the Raven Lord is not around.
Appointment
The Overseer is chosen by the Raven Lord, either when the Raven Lord gains the position or when the former Overseer can't have the position anymore, most often due to being dead. There is no ceremony, but the new Overseer will be publically announced in a morning assembly soon after they've been chosen.
Duties
The Overseer is mostly responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the Nightfeathers. This includes, but is not limited to:
- De-escalating conflicts amongst the members if they can't solve it themselves
- Delegating the job of teaching newcomers the needed skills
- Giving out missions
- Morale-boosting and extinguishing the spreading of discontent
The Overseer might even do more if they have the right social skills. Some have been good listeners, willing to keep their door open for anyone who needs someone to talk to about their troubles.
One of the most important jobs of the Overseer is to be someone the Raven Lord can bounce ideas towards, and ask for advice on decisions. Even though the Overseer can't make the decisions of the Raven Lord, they can often come with a different perspective on decisions that are too confidential to share with the rest of the Lodge.
When the Raven Lord is away, the Overseer takes over all the necessary functions of the Raven Lord to keep the Lodge running. The Overseer is allowed to make any decision deemed urgent enough to not wait until the Raven Lord returns.
Benefits
The Overseer has a pretty strong voice in Nightfeather related situations and even some influence in the Ravenous Ravens as a whole. Although not as influential as the Lodge Leaders, the Overseer is still hand-picked by the Raven Lord and earn some respect just from this.
The Overseer gets an office to use, which might or might not include a secret door to a private bedroom.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The Overseer is carefully chosen by the Raven Lord to one day take over the leadership of the organization one day and is not expected to leave the position with no good reason. This is due to the secrets the Overseer will accumulate over the time they're in the position. No Raven Lord with any common sense would let someone who knows as much as an Overseer just leave their position.
The only real ways to stop being an Overseer is either by dying, either as an accident or by doing something awfully stupid and get themself wing clipped, or to become the next Raven Lord.
