Vence
Vence (a.k.a. The Penny Bard)
Vence is a much older persona of Thaen's that, until recently, never really flourished. As such he has largely been used as a traveling skin for Emir these past few years.
The reason Vence was "shelved" was the fault of Cissa, at least indirectly. Early into Vence's career Cissa stole his booking…and then no-showed her performance. Having decided to stick around to see Cissa perform Vence was asked by a panicked owner to fill the slot to placate the audience (who were not pleased). While he gave his best effort to entertain them there was simply no pleasing some of them. Some took to throwing coppers at him trying to get them into his lute. It earned him the nickname "The Penny Bard" and seriously hurt his prospects. Due to these circumstances Thaen decided to stop using Vence.
Vence is your typical "shady bard". He isn't uncomfortable with crime by any means, but will not tolerate murder or needless violence. He has a quick wit and equally quick temper; he will always want the last word. While he isn't exactly arrogant he is quite self-confident and quite capable at putting others at ease. Vence is the type to easily chat up someone at the bar and share some laughs over ale.
While Vence has yet to find success musically he has shown promise in making connections. Vence has befriended and received letter of introduction from Conrad, Captain of the Royal Guard. He has also provided some interesting 'political' advice to Wrogar in terms of "spinning" the events in Windshire to his benefit and how it hid the Crown's intervention. Beyond that he has ingratiated himself with the Gottfrieds having saved Kleris and helping ensure the safety of Warforged. All in all, Vence might not be the best musician, but he is far from mediocre.
