New Silmarion
Demographics
Though New Silmarion is primarily a human city, as one of the largest metropolia in the world it is no surprise to see every race and creed walking its streets. All kinds of rare and exotic peoples have reason to travel here, whether that be for business or pleasure.
Government
The power of the old empire still reigns in the northern capital. Guards make regular patrols, occasionally accompanying bureaucrats collecting dues and taxes or engineers surveying for repairs or new construction. A massive organization of tally-men and organizers is required to keep track of all the trade that pours through the city on a daily basis. The military and local guards are trained to be ever watchful and prepared to defend the last bastion of the empire, though over the years this conviction has become more of a motto than an actual practice.
Infrastructure
Massive stone bridges span between the floating islands of this city, spanning wide enough for ten carts to pass comfortably side-by-side. These bridges also act as the city's famous and often envied aqueducts, channeling fresh, pure water from the highest island down to the others floating below. Throughout the city's tightly packed, towering buildings are a network of fountains that distribute the water. Some dot the city streets, while others jut out from the side of towers and spires, letting the water fall into small pools below.
